Do Not Send Hundreds Of Emails

Reports show that 50% of employees think they get too much information and 68% of them say they make them less productive. What is more, a manager must trust their remote subordinates, allowing them a certain amount of freedom to manage their working time. Otherwise, the effect would be opposite to the one intended. It is advisable to ask them for daily updates or progress reports, but sending them messages should be reduced to a minimum, for example, necessary documents.

Talk Is The Basis Of Progress

Regular face-to-face or group conversations via Skype will allow you not in a too pushy way to monitor work progress. Furthermore, employees will feel part of the team. Employees are more productive if they are satisfied with their working conditions.

Be Sociable

Introduction of new employees to colleagues on the company’s premises provides a better understanding of the work culture and forms the basis for future relationships with co-workers and managers. Therefore, do not neglect social meetings just because you don’t like them.

Have All In Writing

If you wish to have work done well, clearly define the scope of competences and responsibilities by writing down something of the ”Remote Work Regulations.” Make a new contract, specifying how many hours each remote employee has to spend on work, how often they have to report to you and how often you will require reports of their work.

Nobody said that managing remote employees will be easy. But it is a must to success-oriented companies to take this challenge. All you have to do is to make a few changes in the thinking and organization of work, which will allow remote personnel to work more creatively, efficiently and comfortably.
